Sand Mountain Pottery was turned in the Belchers Gap Community of Sand Mountain in Northeast Alabama.The potters who turned this wonderful stoneware came to this area in the 1860's and turned pottery until the early 1900's.Edmund T Belcher and his Son's inlaws,T.J.Henry and Archibald McPherson and Son,William T Belcher all set up shops to produce Their wares to sell to the growing Communities in this area.These pieces were turned using some of the finest clay,and were glazed in Ash,Lime and later Albany Slip glaze
